Starting in the Britvic Soft Drinks factory QC department, then after 10 years moved to a central role within the Packaging Develpment team where I worked for over 28 years. Since retiring in 2016, I am now working as an independent beverage packaging development consultant.
While at Britvic I was deputy Chairperson of the BSDA Technical Packaging Committee, sat on the packaging committee of CETIE and chaired the CETIE sports closure working group. A Fellow of the Packaging Society; I am one of the tutors on the Societies’ Packaging Diploma Course and the British Soft Drinks Association Manufacturing Soft Drinks training course. I have also presented at a number of packaging related conferences, as well as contributing to a number of technical books on beverage packaging.
I have been responsible for a wide range of New Product and Brand development projects as well as the introduction of new materials and technologies to deliver improvements in total supply chain performance, packaging cost optimisation and distribution quality performance. These include development of the original Robinson Fruit Shoot sports closure and vented dust cap; including being an initiator of the BSDA code of practice for Sports Closures. Recent developments include the development of the pour control insert for Robinsons double concentrated squash, and developing the packaging for Robinsons Squash’d concentrated drinks range.
